YOU STRAIN FOOD
THROUGH PLASTIC.

Plastic kitchenware is used every day to rinse, strain and prepare food.

During food preparation, mechanical stress and surface wear can cause plastic kitchenware to release tiny plastic particles into what you're preparing.

You don't see them. You don't taste them.

THE PLASTIC DOESN'T
JUST DISAPPEAR.

Research has found that plastic food-contact products can release micro- and nanoplastic particles into food during normal use.

A 2025 systematic evidence map reviewed 103 studies investigating micro- and nanoplastics from plastic food-contact articles.

The researchers concluded that normal, intended use of plastic food-contact articles can lead to the migration of micro- and nanoplastics into food or food simulants.

103 STUDIES

Investigating micro- and nanoplastics from plastic food-contact articles.

See the research behind this number

A 2025 systematic evidence map examined 103 studies investigating micro- and nanoplastics in food and food simulants in contact with plastic food-contact articles.

The review included food-contact products such as bottles, containers, cups, bags and food-processing equipment. It also found that mechanical stress, temperature, time and repeated use can influence microplastic migration.

The researchers noted that the quality of evidence varied between studies and that further research is needed to better understand how different materials and conditions affect migration.

BEFORE YOU SWITCH

You get two pieces: a stainless steel strainer and a matching collection bowl underneath.

The strainer lets water pass through while the bowl underneath catches and holds the water.

The strainer is made from stainless steel and is designed for everyday kitchen preparation.

The two-piece design makes it easy to rinse, drain and collect water without needing a separate plastic bowl.

Yes. The set is designed without the plastic used in conventional plastic strainers and colanders.

If you're looking to reduce unnecessary plastic around the food you prepare every day, this is a simple place to start.

Plastic kitchenware can release microplastic particles during food preparation and repeated use.

We chose stainless steel as a durable alternative for a kitchen tool that comes into regular contact with your food.

Use it to rinse and drain everyday foods such as vegetables, fruit, rice, pasta and salad ingredients.

The bowl underneath catches the water as it drains, making preparation easier and less messy.

Place the stainless steel strainer inside the collection bowl, then rinse or drain your ingredients as usual.

Water passes through the strainer while the bowl underneath collects it, so you can lift the strainer out when you're finished.

A note from the founder

WE WERE DONE BEING LIED TO.
SO WE MADE BETTER RITUALS.

I was pregnant with my first when I fell down the rabbit hole.

I started reading about microplastics, hormone disruptors and the things we come into contact with every day.

And suddenly, I couldn't stop seeing them.

In my bathroom. On my skin. In the things I slept on. Things I'd trusted for years without ever thinking twice.

So I started making changes.

But the more I looked, the more overwhelming it became. Better choices meant endless brands, different shops and trying to work out what was actually better, and what was just greenwashing.

It shouldn't have been this hard.

I started making the swaps I wanted for myself. Then I shared them with friends. Then their friends started asking where I'd found them.

That's how Detox Rituals was born.

To make it easier to rethink the everyday things we've been taught to trust, and choose better alternatives.
